Sirdal is known as the southern entrance to Lysefjorden – and as a coveted ski resort in Fjord Norway. The beautiful valley offers many incredible experiences in nature, whether you’re looking for a challenging hike or fun family activities.

In this article, with inspiration from Visit Sirdal, we present our choices for the 10 best experiences in Sirdal outside of the ski season.

Kjeragbolten

Kjerag is still one of Norway’s iconic hiking trails, not least because of its fascinating round boulder, Kjeragbolten, which sits firmly stuck between two cliff walls high in the air.

Tonstadbadet

Tonstadbadet is the perfect destination for rainy day. Here you’ll find a heated 12.5 long and 3.5 metre deep pool with diving boards, several wellness and children’s pools and a steam room.

Slottet

One of Sirdal’s newest features is the Slottet restaurant, which is situated at one of the area’s most beautiful viewpoints, Hoppmannsknuten. The restaurant offers exquisite dishes based on seasonal ingredients from the local area.

Høyt & Lavt Climbing Park in Sirdal will provide hours and hours of fun for children, parents and grandparents alike. You can enjoy no less than 7 trails and 52 features, including 7 cable cars.

Mountain Cart

One of the most popular summer and autumn activities in Sirdal is Mountain Cart. Visitors of all ages will get their blood flowing and crank up their excitement level when they sit behind the handlebars of the “oversized” three-wheeled bikes and race down the ski slope.

Guided tours with Sirdal Safari & Adventure

Sirdal Safari & Adventureoffers different guided tours through the natural surroundings – from fishing safaris at the top of Sirdal’s 1,000 metre-high over rides with a veteran bus to the “pearl of hydropower” and to guided day trips in the landscape around Sirdal.

Dorgefossen

Dorgefossen between Omlid and Handeland is called Sirdal’s “1,000 year old place”. The waterfall is now regulated and smaller than before, but the sharp rocks and glistening water are still an impressive sight.

Sirdal Husky farm

One of Sirdal’s popular activities is a visit to Sirdal Husky Farm. Here you can get up close and personal with the playful and charming dogs, go on a sled ride across the mountain or take a ‘mountain hike with huskies’, with the dogs carrying the gear and packed lunches as you hike to one of the area’s most stunning mountaintops.

Rågeloni

Rågeloni is an outlet of lake Øyvarvatn, which is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and wide grasslands.There are lots of places where you can pitch a tent here, take a dip – or just enjoy life and the view of the beautiful mountains all around you.

Sirdal Husky farm rents out canoes on a daily basis so you can enjoy an excursion on one of the area’s delightful lakes.
