Hike to Kiellandbu
The hike to Kiellandbu is one of the most popular at Voss. The tour takes you through a changing landscape and at the top you can enjoy spectacular views of fields and fjords.
Looking for an affordable hike that still brings you from one spectacular view after another? Then set course for Kiellandbu – "The Magic Cabin".
The tour is around ten km long round trip and can be done by the whole family. You'll pass through gently undulating terrain with a steady gradient, so you can set your own pace and just enjoy the ride. The trail takes you through a lush mountain valley, along a river and lake, before reaching the flat area that takes you right up to Kiellandbu cabin, which stands right on the edge of a steep slope.
From here you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains – but the most spectacular view is towards the Fyksesund fjord and the chalk–white Folgefonna icebreaker in the distance.
Enjoy the packed lunch at the beautiful sight before you start the trip back to Voss. You can either return the same way or head for Sveindalsnuten (1,065 m.a.s.l.) for an even more spectacular view.
Kiellandbu Cabin is one of the Norwegian Tourist Association's cabins, so it's possible to book accommodation in the cabin in advance (or just hope there are beds available when you arrive) if you fancy even more time in this magical place.
