Welcome on board HSC Fjord Cat

Hold on to your hat! Our sleek catamaran HSC Fjord Cat takes you to Norway in less than 2 hours and 15 minutes. Fjord Line shuttles between Hirtshals and Kristiansand so quickly you'll hardly have time to put your suitcase down.

Getting to and from Norway on HSC Fjord Cat is quick, but your time crossing Skagerrak should still be a comfortable and enjoyable experience. You can choose to spend the crossing in what we call a Basic seat, which is included in the ticket price, or you can upgrade to a Comfort seat.

Arrive in Norway in record time!

With a total of four Ruston engines and a combined horse power of 40,000, HSC Fjord Cat offers the quickest journey time by far when it comes to transporting car travellers from Denmark to Norway.

With a top speed of 44 knots (48 knots without cargo), we are able to make the crossing one hour faster than our closest competitor. This means that our guests spend less time travelling and more time on holiday relaxing. Much better, we think.

However, the route over the Skagerrak is not the only speed record HSC Fjord Cat can boast. In her launch year, 1998, she set the world transatlantic speed record. She took just 2 days, 17 hours and 59 minutes on the long crossing between the US and the UK. Not bad!

The catamaran, which was built between 1997 and 1998 by International Catamarans in Tasmania, has been part of the Fjord Line fleet as HSC Fjord Cat since 2008. We skim across the Skagerrak with a maximum of 676 passengers, 180 passenger cars and four coaches.
