7 beautiful hikes around Norefjell
The area around Norefjell and neighbouring Sigdal offers a wealth of fantastic experiences in the natural surroundings. In this article, with inspiration from Visit Norefjell, we suggest 7 different beautiful hikes in the area.

Ravnås
Ravnås sits 1188 metres above sea level, but don’t let that scare you – it’s often described as the most easily accessible mountain top on the Norefjell plateau. The hike is suitable for all ages and offers one breathtaking view after another. Start at Norefjellstu, follow the signs and before you know it you’ll be at the top – the entire hike takes around 3 hours.
Madonna in Eggedal
Out in the middle of nowhere, on a mountaintop 1020 above sea level, is quite an unusual place to find a work of art. Nonetheless, this is where you can visit the Madonna i Eggedal granite statue, around 40 minutes’ drive west of Norefjell. The hike to the beautiful “Madonna” granite statue, right in the middle of Norefjell’s mountainous landscape, was voted Norway’s best leisure hike in 2018. The approximately 6 km return trip passes through stunning mountain terrain, and is suitable for both young children and seniors.

Bergshammeren
The hike to Bergshammeren is relatively demanding, but offers many stunning views along the way. The shortest way to the top (around 3 km) starts at the car park at the municipal border between Sigdal and Flå, but you may also prefer to take a longer route from Haglebu Holiday Centre (around 10.5 km).
Bøseter – Høgevarde
After Gaustatoppen, the Høgevarde mountain peak offers the most far-reaching view in Eastern Norway. Sitting at 1459 metres above sea level, the hike to the top will get your pulse racing, but the reward that awaits you is well worth the effort – in clear weather you can even see Gaustatoppen itself as you look to the west. The hike starts at the hotel in Bøseter and takes around 4 hours to reach the top.

Allemannsåsen
The hike to Allemannsåsen is a scenic trip for hikers of all ages. The whole route is about 5 km, and remember to continue along the path once you’ve been to the top – then you’ll come to an impressive viewpoint with a ‘signpost’ to many different places in the world. On the way back down the mountain again, you can either go the same way you came up or take one of the other good paths down to make it a round trip.
Gråfjell
Gråfjell is the highest peak in Norefjell, towering 1466 metres above sea level. Up here, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking 360 degree view over the impressive mountain landscape—in clear weather you can see all the way to Jotunheimen. Make sure you’re in good shape before you attempt this hike – it’s 20 km long and takes 4.5 hours from Tempelseter Fjellstue to the top.
Høgnipa
The hike to Høgnipa takes you along a dirt track through a charming group of cabins at Rishovd, after which you continue through the forest to the top, which sits 660 metres above sea level. From here, you’ll be able to enjoy a 360 degree view across the endless forests and mountains around you.
