Preikestolen and Kjeragbolten

Preikestolen and Kjeragbolten are two of Norway's most iconic hikes. Experience them both on your holiday to Sirdal.

Sirdal is the perfect starting point for a hiking holiday in Norway. Based in Sirdal, you have a whole host of Norway's most beautiful walks within easy reach – not least the two most iconic, which are around two and one hour from Sirdal respectively, so you can easily get out and back in the same day.
Preikestolen.

Preikestolen

The unique, 604–metre high and almost vertical rock formation with its flat top and sharp edges is one of Norway's most famous destinations for a reason. The cliff is visited by up to 250,000 tourists a year, who flock to the site to enjoy panoramic views of fjord and mountain that can take most breath away.

The walk to the top takes around two hours each way and offers plenty of excellent places to rest – or take a well–deserved dip – along the way.

Kjeragbolten

Kjerag is another of Norway's iconic hikes, not least because of its fascinating round boulder, Kjeragbolten, wedged between two high mountain walls.

The walk to the top takes around 2.5–3 hours each way, going up over mountain terrain with an altitude difference of 460 metres. It's not for inexperienced walkers or the faint–hearted, as part of the path follows the edge of the cliff face, which runs almost vertically for a full kilometre down to Lysefjorden.

At the top of the 1084–metre–high mountain, you can enjoy the indescribable view while standing at the edge of the mountain plateau – or maybe even out on Kjeragbolten itself, if you dare!
