1. Voss – world-class nature and views
It takes around 1.5 hours to drive from Bergen to Voss. Here, you’ll find spectacular nature and experiences for the whole family.
Take the Voss Gondol to the top of Mount Hanguren – in just a few minutes, you’ll be lifted above the landscape and rewarded with stunning views of mountains and lakes. At the top, you can enjoy lunch, go hiking or simply relax before continuing your journey.

2. The Flåm Railway – one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys
From Voss, continue to Flåm, where one of Norway’s most iconic experiences awaits. The Flåm Railway is considered one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world – and it’s easy to see why.
The 20 km railway winds through dramatic landscapes with cascading waterfalls, steep mountain sides and idyllic valleys. Along the way, there are stops at viewpoints where you can truly take in the scenery.

3. Nærøyfjord – experience the power of nature up close
Next stop is the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord – one of the narrowest and most spectacular fjords in the world.
Here, you’ll sail through a narrow fjord surrounded by steep mountains rising up to 1,800 metres above you. At its narrowest point, the fjord is just 250 metres wide – a truly awe-inspiring experience.

4. Stegastein – views you’ll never forget
From the fjord, continue up to Stegastein – one of Norway’s most photographed viewpoints.
The platform extends 30 metres out from the mountainside and sits 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views that are hard to put into words.

5. Hallingskarvet National Park – peace and wild nature
Continue your journey to Hallingskarvet National Park, where the landscape opens up into vast mountain plateaus.
This area offers excellent hiking opportunities and rich flora and fauna. It’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the tranquillity, far away from everyday life.

6. Vøringsfossen – nature’s power up close
No road trip in Fjord Norway is complete without a visit to Vøringsfossen – one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls.
Here, the water plunges 182 metres into the dramatic Måbødalen valley. From the new viewing platforms and bridges, you’ll experience the full force of nature.

7. Odda – the valley of waterfalls
Finish your road trip in the area around Odda, also known as the “valley of waterfalls”.
Here, waterfalls line the landscape like pearls on a string – and Låtefossen is a must-see. This iconic twin waterfall cascades over the road, creating a truly unforgettable sight.

A road trip from Bergen is the perfect way to explore Fjord Norway. With short distances between the highlights, you’ll experience the very best of nature – combined with the freedom to stop wherever you like.
After visiting Odda and its impressive waterfalls, you can decide how your journey continues. Follow the coastal road E39 north for a scenic round trip back to Bergen – with fjords, bridges and varied landscapes along the way.
Alternatively, continue south towards Stavanger and discover even more spectacular natural attractions such as the Lysefjord and Preikestolen.
Whichever route you choose, Fjord Line will take you comfortably back to Hirtshals from both Bergen and Stavanger – giving you a flexible and memorable end to your road trip.
