Fjord Line introduces a permanent route change to Kristiansand
Since the beginning of 2020, Fjord Line has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and energy crisis. We have continuously adjusted our operations to face these challenges, most recently through a reduced sailing schedule and the ongoing dual-fuel conversion of our LNG ships, MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord.
When traffic with MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord resumes in May and June 2023 respectively, the ships will permanently sail between Bergen – Stavanger – Hirtshals – Kristiansand.
“This is a strategic move to ensure an even better service for our passengers and freight customers on the shortest route between Norway and the continent. The change entails a higher frequency, a year-round service between Kristiansand and Hirtshals, and that our customers can choose to sail with the sister ships MS Stavangerfjord/MS Bergensfjord and the high-speed catamaran Fjord FSTR,” says Brian Thorsted Hansen, Managing Director of Fjord Line.
The change means that MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord no longer will call at Langesund Port. Fjord Line has had traffic to and from Langesund since 2014.
“I would like to thank the local community, the port authority and the municipality for their good cooperation during this period. It has been very important to Fjord Line,” Hansen says.
“Passengers who have already booked departures to or from Langesund will be rebooked to travel via Kristiansand, but if this is inconvenient, they may choose to cancel the trip or receive a gift card to be used on a different trip. We do of course apologise to the customers affected by this,” Hansen says.
Fjord Line’s other routes will not be affected by the changes.
