With these upgrades, Fjord Line will offer a popular year-round evening departure between Hirtshals and Kristiansand, the shortest route between Denmark and Norway.

Fjord Line’s cruise ferries, MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord, will sail the additional evening departure between Hirtshals and Kristiansand. From Kristiansand, the ships will sail to Stavanger on the new domestic night route. From Stavanger, the journey continues to Bergen.

“We are delighted to strengthen Fjord Line’s services for passengers and freight customers with these new departures,” says Brian Thorsted Hansen, CEO of Fjord Line.

Today, Fjord Line sails northbound, directly from Hirtshals to Stavanger-Bergen. The new departures change this, and the ships will now sail Hirtshals-Kristiansand-Stavanger-Bergen.

Southbound, the route remains as it is today; Bergen-Stavanger-Hirtshals.

The new departures can be booked from February 1 to May 7, 2024, and from September 2 to December 30, 2024. Between May 7 and September 2, Fjord Line continues to sail 3-4 departures daily between Hirtshals and Kristiansand with HSC Fjord FSTR, MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord.

Better, more and new customer experiences

Both departures represent a vital part of Fjord Line’s strategy: To offer even better, more and new customer experiences based on the transport of guests and goods.

“The new services create even more experiential journeys for our guests. The evening departure from Hirtshals to Kristiansand gives Norwegian, Danish and foreign guests another daily travel option between Norway and the continent,” Thorsted Hansen says.

The extra evening departure between Kristiansand and Hirtshals also allows travellers a long-awaited day trip between Kristiansand and Hirtshals.

The new evening departure between Norway and Denmark is also attractive for freight transport. The same applies to the new domestic route between Kristiansand, Stavanger and Bergen. Fjord Line accounts for a significant share of the important freight transport at sea between Norway and Denmark and wants to continue this by strengthening its services.
