Transporting animals

Transport of horses and horse-drawn vehicles must be booked by phone. Persons transporting horses should contact Fjord Line Freight to present papers on departure and arrival and be registered on the Cargo Manifest. A fee is payable. Fjord Line Freight must be contacted in advance if you require help to complete customs forms.

Live animals are transported at the owner’s risk. Please note that there are separate regulations for travelling with animals to other countries. Animals must have their own travel documents to and from EU and EEA countries. Please contact your vet for more information. Pets must be kept in the vehicle or in suitable cages that are brought by the owner or in the pre-booked dog kennel (not available on Fjord FSTR). A maximum of three pets is allowed per booking. When booking your own trip, remember to mention that you are bringing a pet. If you book online, your pet must be registered under the «Travelers»-step of the booking process. The cost of a dog cage is 100 NOK one way.

The dog kennel is on deck 10. There are three different cage sizes: Medium: 70 x 100 x 75 cm, Large: 100 x 100 x 75 cm and Extra large: 120 x 100 x 160 cm. There is also a walking area, a sandpit and access to water. Dog waste bags must be used. Dogs are not allowed on the sun deck or inside the ship (besides in specific cabins where dogs are allowed).
