This is a strategic move to concentrate Fjord Line’s operations around the sailing routes between Norway and Denmark. Fjord Line wants to develop the company further within tourism and the best on-board customer experiences. At the same time, Fjord Line will continue to be a key player in both passenger traffic and freight transport between Norway and the continent.

Fjord Line has operated the ferry route which primary focus is on offering shopping between Sandefjord in Norway and Strömstad in Sweden with the ship MS Oslofjord since 2014.

– We are now in dialogue with the trade unions and union representatives as well as starting consultation meetings with those of our employees who will, unfortunately, be affected by the situation, says CEO, Brian Thorsted Hansen.

Fjord Line’s operation of MS Oslofjord will be discontinued, and solutions to dispose of the ship are being considered.

Thank you to our employees, customers, and business partners

Fjord Line will stop operating the ferry route between Sandefjord and Strömstad on 29 October 2023 and this will, unfortunately, have consequences for both employees, customers, and business partners.

– We thank our committed and loyal employees for their fantastic efforts and for creating great customer experiences. A sincere thank you must also be extended to all our customers having chosen Fjord Line when travelling or transporting goods between Sandefjord and Strömstad over the years, says Brian Thorsted Hansen.

Customers with bookings for MS Oslofjord after 29 October 2023 will have their bookings refunded.

Fjord Line’s other ferry routes are not affected

All of Fjord Line’s other ferry routes are part of the long-term strategy and will not be affected by the company’s withdrawal from the route between Sandefjord and Strömstad.
