Fishing in Sirdal

In Sirdal you can fish both in the river Sira and in mountain lakes. With a fishing permit in Sirdal you get access to seven different areas – and plenty of fish to hook!

The River Sira runs through the whole of Sirdal and offers many different good fishing spots, but it is also recommended to explore the local mountain lakes and other fishing areas to which the fishing permit gives access: Njardarheim, Øyarvatn, Sira, Store Kvihei, Storavatn, Mydland and Øksendal. The typical fish in the area are trout and Arctic charr.

If you have children or grandchildren who are interested in fishing, locals recommend going to Sinnesvatnet, where you can fish from a small sandy beach, or Bjørnhøl near Tonstad, where you can also fish from a nice beach with plenty of space for fishing, playing on the beach and bringing a barbecue for the day's catch.
